Rainforest Excursion

In the last few months, several cyclones have passed through Madagascar, causing a great deal of damage. Massive landslides occurred in the rainforest area in central Madagascar, destroying homes and crops, as well as causing injuries and deaths. At the end of March, our team had the opportunity to join the rainforest team in distributing aid to some of the affected families.

NGO’s and others have been working hard already in this area—though the road into the rainforest originally had major damage, most of it has been cleared. Only the large chunks that were washed out still need repairs. The area is still beautiful, so green and tropical, especially when compared with the dry southwest.

Our missionaries in the area were able to set up working with the local government in distributing both rice and beans to many families (I’m not really sure how many). We also had the opportunity to give out tracts, as well as share Bible stories. Best of all, some new believers in the rainforest came to help, and they shared their testimonies with those waiting to receive aid!

Join us in praying for comfort for all the families affected by these cyclones. Please pray too that God would use this distribution to continue to strengthen the rainforest team’s relationships in this area, as well as to draw people closer to salvation in Him.
